Karen Kasmaunski is a contributing photographer-in-residence of the National Geographic Society.
Since 1984, she has produced twenty major stories for National Geographic magazine, including a look at the global effects
of radiation, a social portrayal of Japanese women, and an examination of Japan’s economic role in Asia. In addition to her
magazine work, Kasmaunski has published a book, Hampton Roads, a photographic exploration of her hometown area. She is also
a frequent speaker in the National Geographic Masters of Photography lecture series, and holds degrees in anthropology
and religion.
